Go Forth and Blog

So you have, hopefully, set up your very own blog. Now is the time to begin the blog assignment. You need to post at least three times a week. Sometimes, I will give you a specific topic for a post, but most of the time I would like to see you trying on ideas that will develop into your essays.

Couple notes:

  • Not all posts are the same. There are no maximums or minimums. Just take it seriously, but some posts can be quick thoughts.

  • A week consists of from Thursday's class to next Thursday's class.

  • Remember that blogging is a public exercise. That is exciting in a way because anyone can read what you've written. But be sure not to reveal something you would want to keep private (like that Prof. Renfroe is a jerk).

  • Make your blog a conversation with yourself and with the rest of the class. Please visit one another's blogs and leave comments (aim for at least two comments a week).

  • I don't have anything else, but I like having five bullets.

FIRST BLOG POST ASSIGNMENT

For your first post (if you haven't already written an introductory one), write about your history blogging, if you have any, or journaling. If you have no history with either, discuss what kinds of nonfiction writing you've done in the past.

Happy blogging.

  1. Is is "legal" to post the things we write in class?

  2. You can post things written in class, just as you can use blog posts to refine writing assignments turned in for class, but I would say don't just transcribe them word for word, but use this as an opportunity to revise your work. Hope this helps.
